Fragments of Self
30.5 x 30.5 x 12cm
Timber, acrylic and photography
"Fragments of Self" explores the disordered and elusive nature of memory shaped by Aphantasia, a condition that prevents me from reliving past experiences. The work presents a fragmented image that could resemble a person, with each piece deliberately placed in a random but considered order. This disarray mirrors the experience of reconstructing memories that can only be accessed through photographs, rather than personal recall. The piece embodies the tension between presence and absence, inviting viewers to reflect on the nuanced, often incomplete nature of personal recollection and how memories are pieced together in a non-linear and fractured way.
