As a Cartographer for 30 years, I was often subjected to sexism, othering and prejudice. The Cartographic field has always been a male-dominated field, and I proved that it was possible to have a successful and respected career in the industry. While it was never easy, it made me stronger and gave me the drive I needed to prove myself. "Girlfriend" is a painting that defines the importance of holding your head up and not giving up.
