FIRST PRIZE

Still in shock… Misaligned was awarded First Prize in the Andor Meszaros Sculpture Prize at the Association of Sculptors Victoria Annual & Awards Sculpture Exhibition.
When they called my name, I honestly thought I’d misheard — then I screamed — then I got on stage and couldn’t get a single word out. After leaving stage I sat on the floor and sobbed realising how much it meant to receive the confirmation for the direction I have taken with my work.
This work involved so much quiet planning, measuring, and recalculating — every decision deliberate, every detail considered. Ironically, it also caused the hand issues I’ve been managing since last September.
To have it recognised in this way is incredibly meaningful.
Thank you to the Association of Sculptors Victoria for this honour and for everything they do to support and celebrate sculpture in Victoria.
WINNER

I submitted one of my works into a photographic exhibition. I was very nervous dropping it off as I don’t consider myself a photographer, but instead, an artist. Would this world of unfamiliarity welcome me or not?
I met Chris, an award winning photographer, when I delivered my work, and we chatted about a few things, including the fact that I had just bought a Polaroid camera. I’ve been wanting to try some new ideas.
Anyway! Terence and I arrived at the opening last night and was very impressed with all the amazing photography on display.
The time came for the prizes to be be announced. The photographer of two pieces I loved @aurora_burnett_kuhn, won Ghost in the Grain, chosen by Brunswick Darkroom, for an outstanding film photography submission.
And then, my name was called out! I had been selected for the No Longer Lost award for a Standout Contribution. The prize being a Solo two-week exhibition at KC Gallery.
My first reaction was WTF! Then I felt very small in a room of very talented photographers. I think the reality is kicking in with my recent works being recognised.
I am so grateful and so happy that I feel seen. A big thanks to all the support I’ve received from everyone. I truly appreciate it.
Thank you Jade and Chris from Kindred Cameras 🙏🏻
