"Disparate" captures the profound sense of otherness and disconnection experienced upon discovering I have Aphantasia. This realisation—that others possess a vivid inner world I cannot access—shattered my understanding of myself, leaving behind a fragmented sense of identity.
The crumpled and folded form embodies the tension of this revelation, reflecting the emotional weight of feeling fundamentally different. Each fold suggests a rupture, a space where something is missing, yet also holds the potential for new perspectives to emerge.
Through this work, I invite viewers to reflect on the unseen challenges that define us and the strength it takes to embrace our differences. "Disparate" serves as a quiet reminder that even in disarray, there is resilience and growth.
