That Time Of Year

Updated: Nov 13, 2020

Halloween?

No! Not Halloween, although I will prepare my skeleton in the window for the kids!

What I am talking about is Christmas. Would you believe it is less than 2 months away?

A much needed haircut

As you are probably aware, Melbourne retail and hospitality opened today, for the first time in months. I will avoid the excitement for now.

I was so grateful, however, that the hairdressers were allowed to open last week and I felt fab after my first cut and colour since February. I went a little icy this time.

I'm feeling fresh and now it's time to look forward, get back in the studio and start preparing for Christmas Commissions.

In my previous blog, I announced I had won the Peoples Choice Award. This week I received the $1000 worth of canvases as my prize.

What a fabulous prize!

It's all very exciting but it means I now have a variety of canvas sizes and I'm ready to paint.

So, if you want a unique piece for that special someone then you will need to contact me within the next few weeks.

My shop has lots of stock ranging from $45 - $1600. There is something to suit everyone's budget.

Distraction

You may have noticed that I have been quieter than usual in the last few months. The reason for that is that I have been distracted by a Facebook group that I created in Feb 2019, to help me connect with other Victorian Artists. That group has now grown to over 1200 members and in July, "Melbourne and Victorian Artists Inc" was registered as a non-profit association.

Being the Founder, President and Media Liaison I have been busy working on the website, putting together a fabulous committee, writing workshops, holding zoom meetups for members, writing terms and conditions, resource files, producing vlogs, helping with online exhibitions, featuring artists every day and administering the Facebook group. I also look after the Facebook Page, YouTube channel, Pinterest account and Instagram account for the association. It is a full-time volunteer job and I get so much satisfaction knowing it helps local artists. The recent stories of how the group has helped Victorian Artists get through the lockdown have been heartwarming. I enjoy being able to surprise 3 artists every day by featuring their work on our Instagram account. Such a great feeling knowing I am helping to make people smile and feel recognised.

Until next time, stay safe, and remember to check out what I get up to on Instagram from time to time.
